Wood Doors

Wood doors offer a charm and individuality that other materials merely present. They can be made locally in whatever size you need, and stand up well to bumps from basketballs or hockey. The downside is that they are not maintenance free and require frequent repainting or refinishing, especially if you live in a damp climate.

The price range from low price to very expensive, depending on whether they consist of a lightweight wooden frame filled with foam insulation and wrapped in plywood or hardboard skin (the least expensive) or are real frame-and-panel doors made of durable and valuable mahogany, redwood, or cedar. Another problem: they usually carries a short warranty, perhaps only one year.
